Biblical Literacy with Mark Lanier
Biblical Literacy has been a part of Champion Forest Church—at the Champions Campus in northwest Houston—since its inception. Created as an alternative to traditional small-group Bible study, the class offers a weekly lecture-style experience taught by Mark Lanier. More than 400 people attend in person each Sunday, and the 9:30 a.m. live stream reaches an additional 200+ participants. Over time, these lessons have grown into a global resource, with people around the world accessing the archives for study, teaching, and personal spiritual growth.
Brent Johnson serves as the pastor to the class, providing weekday devotional emails to all who subscribe, supporting mission efforts connected to the class, and fostering community life—from social groups to prayer support—within the broader church family. The class has met in various locations over the years and now gathers in the Family Life Center (FLC). All are welcome, and no church membership is required.
The Biblical Literacy website serves as the central archive for more than twenty years of Mark’s teaching. Here you will find videos, PowerPoints, handouts, and an extensive collection of lessons covering books of the Bible, theology, history, apologetics, and faith-and-culture topics.
All of these resources are made possible through the work of dedicated volunteers, who film the lessons, process and publish the videos to YouTube and Vimeo, edit closed captions for accessibility, and maintain ongoing updates to the website.
Whether you join us in person, online, or from across the world, we invite you to explore, learn, and grow with us.
